Frequently Asked Questions

What is a personal concierge?

A concierge service provides personalized assistance to busy people who need a hand with everyday tasks and errands.  From running errands to planning a birthday party, this service is designed to help alleviate the stress of an overflowing to-do list, and to create more quality time for people to spend on things that make them happy.

Who benefits from your service?

Dual-income families, busy working professionals, business travelers, singles, stay-home parents, new & expectant parents, senior citizens, retirees, adult children of elderly persons, people with disabilities, home-bound individuals… anyone who is time-starved and in need of a helping hand!

Can I really afford a concierge service?

Concierge services are not just for the rich and famous.  Anyone can use a helping hand sometimes.  How much is your free time worth?  The time to indulge yourself, to spend with the important people in your life, or even the freedom to go away for a weekend with your spouse or significant other – it’s truly priceless.

How do I request services?

Give us a call or fill out our Contact form.  Good Neighbor Concierge is available 24/7; however, our regular business hours are Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturdays 8 AM to 1 PM Eastern Time.  Please note that services requested outside of our normal business hours, urgent/same day requests, weekends and holidays will be subject to an additional fee.  We request a minimum 24 hours’ notice for scheduling.

What geographic areas do you serve?

We serve most cities and towns in the metropolitan and Greater Boston area, within Interstate 495.  We also serve clients from all across North America and even Europe. Please contact us to be sure we cover your area.

Is there a service you will not do?

We will happily take on most service requests, as long as they are reasonable, moral, legal and ethical. If in doubt, please ask us.

What are examples of tasks you have done?

Some requests we have fulfilled include picking up public records from city hall, hand-delivering documents, housecleaning, resetting a car radio code, conducting apartment walk-through inspections, performing in-store product audits, taking vehicles in for servicing, proofreading/editing a book manuscript, dog walking, returning recyclables to the redemption center, house sitting, waiting for cable installation services, picking up and delivering cake orders, re-shipping luxury goods and jars of food, and many more than we can list here!

Is Good Neighbor Concierge insured and bonded?

Yes, we are a fully insured and bonded company, for your peace of mind.

Is there a separate mileage charge?

The first thirty (30) miles of travel are complimentary and are included in our rates.  After that, an additional mileage fee applies.

When does billing time start?

Time is billed when service begins and ends upon completion of task(s) and/or delivery.  Travel time/mileage includes travel to and from our main office.

How are third party purchases handled?

Costs for third party services and purchases are the responsibility of the client in addition to our service fees.  In most cases, the concierge will make purchases on our company account and full reimbursement is expected at the time of delivery.  Major purchases, however, require sufficient funds be provided upfront in order to cover the expense, or prepaid in advance. We accept major credit cards for your convenience.

Why should I pay someone to do things I could do myself?

Good question!  Many people try to cram in 30 hours of work into a 24-hour day.  Time is a precious commodity.  If we were given enough time in a day, we could finish all we need to do.  Unfortunately, we live in a world that is time-starved and always on-the-go.  Delegating some or all of your personal tasks to us helps you focus time on your priorities, whether it be on your career, your grandchildren, your hobbies, whatever brings you joy.  Let us take care of the little things that can overwhelm you.  When you buy our service, you buy time for yourself and “bye” to stress!

What is your privacy policy?

We value the trust you place in us in handling your personal information and we treat this information with the utmost care.  We fully respect your privacy.  We will never sell or share your personal information with anyone at anytime without your specific permission.

What if I need to cancel a scheduled service?

No problem.  In order to make our time available for other clients, we would appreciate at least 24 hours notice for all service cancellations.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, checks, money orders, certified checks, and all major credit cards via PayPal.
